The Female Difference
A woman's heart is different! Many people mistakenly think coronary artery disease is a man's disease, or that women rarely experience heart attacks. This couldn't be further from the truth. Women do indeed have special cardiovascular treatment requirements.
Plain and simple, treating a woman's cardiovascular health is different than a man's. For example, women can experience different cardiovascular symptoms than men. Their heart disease risk factors differ. Women encounter an increased risk of heart disease following menopause. And since 1984, more women have died from cardiovascular diseases than men, according to the American Heart Association.
The Women's HeartCare Center of Evansville offers patients female-specific programs that include heart disease testing and diagnosis, preventive care education, risk factor analysis, exercise and lifestyle modification recommendations, dieting and nutrition counseling, and prescription therapies.
